五代后周时期,燕山府(今北京一带)有个叫窦禹钧的人,记取祖训,教导儿子们仰慕圣贤,刻苦学习,为人处世,不愧不怍。结果,他的五个儿子都品学兼优,先后登科及第:
窦禹钧本人也享受八十二岁高寿,无疾而终。当朝太师冯道还特地写了首诗:“燕山窦十郎,教子有义方;灵椿一株老,丹桂五技芳。”
《三字经》也以“窦燕山,有义方,教五子,名俱扬”的句子,歌颂此事;又逐渐演化为“五子登科”的吉祥图案,寄托了一般人家期望子弟都能像窦家五子那样联袂获取功名。
五子登科又象征及第封侯,时下新版“五子登科”中“五子”则指代“妻子、儿子、房子、票子、车子”的理想生活。
十年寒窗,正是为了“一举成名天下知”,出将如相,平步青云。金玉满堂中,五个嬉戏的天真幼童,或跨坐巨鲤、或执箫弄曲、或手擎荷叶……仪态各异,栩栩如生。

A wonderful Shoushan Stone, The scene is taken from a famous Chinese story, Wu Zi Deng Ke, also five sons Deke. It's used for the blessing of auspicious. The "History of the Song Dynasty-Chuan Dou" record: Song of the five Douyu Jun-son, Yan, Kan, Cheng, and have Xi, the "five sons Deke." Shoushan stones come from the area around the city Fuzhou in Fujian Province. Shoushan Stones are one of the three famous stones of China used in Chinese art. The stones are known for their fine texture, multi-color hues and carve ability. There is an ancient legend that explains the origin of the stones; in ancient times a five-colored Phoenix stopped at Shoushan Mountain, within the protection of the mountains she laid many eggs and these multicolored eggs became the origins of the famous Shoushan stones.
