《桃李劫》是电通公司的第一部作品。影片叙述刚从建筑工艺学校毕业的两个青年陶建平和表妹黎丽琳，抱着“为母校争光、为社会谋福利”的理想走入社会。他们结婚后，陶建平在一家轮船公司工作。不久由于他为人直率，反对老板不顾乘客安全、超载运货的行为，同经理发生冲突，愤而辞职。失业后生活拮据，而找工作又处处遭到冷遇。后来夫妻二人先后都谋到了职业，而陶建平又因正直，和偷工减料的厂主发生矛盾，丽琳也由于拒绝经理的侮辱不能工作下去。他们为社会服务的理想破灭了，而灾祸又接踵而至，丽琳产后受重伤，当了苦工的建平借贷无着，被逼偷了工头的钱，但妻子已无法医救死去，建平含泪把孩子送进育婴堂，回家时遭到逮捕，最后以盗窃拒捕的罪名判处死刑。
Plunder of Peach and Plum is the first works of Diantong company. The film narrates two youngers Tao Juanping and Li Lilin, Tao's cousin, enter into society with ideal "Win Honor for Alma Master & Seek Welfare for the Society" after graduation from a construction technics school. After marriage, Tao Juanping works in a steamboat company. But he resigns soon after conflicting with his manager, because he opposes the boss's action of overloading in spite of passengers's afety. They live a poor life without work and meet with cold shouler in applying for a job. Later, the couple find their own jobs successively. However, Tao Jianping conflicts with the jerry-built miller again because of his honesty and Lilin gets out of work for refusal of her manager's insults. Their dream of working for the society breaks and disasters come in succession. Lilin catches hell post partum. Swinking Jianpin is obliged to steal the taskmaster's money, but he still can not save his wife's life Jianpin is arrested on the way back home after he sends his child to the foundling tearfully, and sentenced into death with the guilt of theft and resisting arrest at last. Disaster of Peaches and Plums is the first film produced by means of complete sound film.
