影片以旧时代的北京为背景，叙述了祥子和虎妞的遭遇。祥子从乡下到城市，梦想把自己的命运掌握在自己手里，做一个“自由的洋车夫”。他忍辱、受饿、豁出命的奔跑，可是这个任务骆驼也没混也个模样，最后在绝望中结束了悲惨的一生。
This film is adapted from the same novel by Laoshe.
This film has it setting in old Beijing,telling the story of Xiangzi and Huniu.Xiangzi comes to the city from the villation,goes to hungry and runs with his rickshaw desperately.Anyway,he can't possibly change his fate but ends up with miserable life.
